Booking It
There is a lot of curiosity in people regarding “what’s out there.” The fascination with horoscopes and the popularity of calling 1-800 FORTUNETELLER tells me that we have a hunger to know the future. Palm reading, Ouija boards and even our magic eight balls are an attempt to get some information beyond this world by the spirits that are supposed to know something. As people dabble in these things they forget that there is a device already put into our hands that speaks to us from another world. This device is sorely underappreciated. I am talking about the Holy Bible.
The Bible is a book filled with the very breath of God. Paul spoke of it this way; “All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work.” (2 Tim. 3:16) in other words the Bible is a voice from beyond that resuscitates our soul and then shapes us in every way that we need to be shaped.
The Bible is amazing because it transports into our life inspiration and secrets from heavenly places. Jesus said that his very words were “spirit and life.” The words of Jesus and the words of the Bible put into us the very thoughts and the very life of God. The book is supernatural.
The Bible is also amazing because it transports us into the very places where God has worked. We are transported back in time to moments of powerful movements of God which fills our lives with faith that our God is mighty in all of his ways.
Truly the Bible is a voice from beyond. It is supernatural. It tells us the secret things of God. It communicates the never failing promises of God. It will tell you how the future will turn out when you live in obedience to the word of God. And Jesus tells us that the “word of the Lord will stand for ever.” It’s not going away and it’s not going to fail. It is a light to your path, water to your soul, food for the hungry, rest for the weary, courage for the fainthearted, wisdom for the confused and a map for the lost.
Even though we live in a culture that attacks the Bible, seeks to remove it from public places and tries to scientifically and philosophically undermine it, it has stood for thousands of years and will continue to stand.
